Welcome to WoodShells.com. This is the home of Shell Sketch and Shell Designer. Shell Sketch is a free to use program that lets you draw all kinds of smooth seashells including bivalve clams or mussels, conical spiral shells, and planispiral shells such as nautilus or ammonites. The shells you can draw are three – dimensional and use dynamic color. You can change the line width, line type, line color, background color, and a black cylindrical base. You can also draw shells that are left or right oriented. After you draw a shell you want to keep, you can click the 3D picture button to save an image from the 3D window. I would suggest starting with the models and getting a feel for the controls, then re-shape them by dragging points that define aperture shape and curve factor. Note that zooming in the 3D window or changing background color resets the drawing, so get those set where you want before drawing.
Shell Designer is a paid version that works much like Shell Sketch except it has the ability to make patterns so you can build a model of the shell you design. With a one time purchase membership you can design shells right here on this website, and make a pattern to use in your woodwork shop to make a shell shaped just like your design.
